Just For Fun!
It's the hot humid dog days of summer, so with the 98 degree heat yesterday I stayed in the AC and played in my craft room! I finally have had the chance to unpack some of the goodies I got at the Stamp Scrap Art show in Winston-Salem last weekend. It was a small show, but surprisingly, I spent all day there... and mainly in just one aisle! LOL
I went to the Friday evening Make n Take event and the show on Saturday. The make n take event was a lot of fun and we made 7 projects. One of the vendors there was Just For Fun Stamps and I really like their postage stamp style rubber stamps... so easy and fun! Above is a card I made yesterday using their filmstrip stamp in Memento black. The background is stippled with Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass distress ink. The JFF weed stamp is in TH Bundled Sage. The JFF background words are off-stamped once using Adirondack Latte ink. The JFF dandelion stamp is stamped with TH Broken China distress ink. Quick and easy! Pop dotted it up, added TH film strip ribbon, and a few charms from my stash. The imagine stamp is also stamped with TH Broken China ink. Below is the inside with same ink colors and the punched edge is by Martha Stewart with a narrow strip of coffee colored paper from my stash woven through the punched design.
It is amazing how you can take the same stamps and make a totally different look by color choice, layout, and embellishments. Here's a 2nd card I made using all the JFF stamps.
This card was tough to get a good picture of the true color of the Bazzil card stock. It's a pale lime green or lettuce green. The background was stippled with Adirondack Lettuce ink. Background words stamped in Adirondack Latte ink, off-stamping once. The dandelion was stamped using TH Spun Sugar and TH Worn Lipstick distress inks. The punched ribbon is Martha Stewart and I colored a length of white embroidery thread with Copic G20, then wove it through the punch. The piece of Japanese newsprint was aged with a little TH Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress inks. Added a bit of the Lettuce color to the gauze flower. It was a fun card to make!
Then I wanted to try one of the other Just For Fun techniques.
I used the JFF 6-panel stamp block to stamp onto a piece of red Bazzil. I dont know the shade of red since it was some I just had in my stash. Then I stamped the block onto an old Christmas card from last year and used my Fiskars 'stamp' scissors to cut it out. Pop-dotted the pieces into place, added a TH paper ribbon inked with a bit of Broken China distress ink, added an organza ribbon, and an old vintage button. Very easy, very quick, and VERY fun! I am loving these stamps!
Here is another Christmas card using an old vintage card I had in my stash.
The postage stamp outline is the Just For Fun 6 block one, but I just cut it to be 4. Trimmed and adhered the vintage card pieces. Have I mentioned my favorite glue I found recently is Aleene's Easy Flow Tacky Glue?? It is absolutely a must have! It will not wrinkle paper like other wet glues and has a tremendous hold. Just need a think line around the outside edge of what you're gluing. You have about 15 seconds to 'slide' your paper to correct positioning if need be. It's GREAT for scrapbooking!! NONE of my pages come apart now!! Anywayyy... back to the card... The background stamp is from a clear cling TH collection stamped in Memento black. Added a felt snowflake - had a vintage look and feel to it. And then put on 2 TH decorative metal corners.
The last thing I want to show you today is the Make n Take card we made at the Just For Fun table during the Friday night event. The little inch worm was so cute, I had to get him too!
It is using the JFF film strip stamp. Background was stippled, but I dont remember what color Adirondack ink! The background words were stamped with Adirondack Latte. The grass in Adirondack Lettuce and the cutie pie inch worm in Cranberry. Added some liquid glitz, but I dont recall the brand... something like stickles constistancy, but not glittery - just shiny. lol All on a lettuce colored card stock. For some odd reason, my little camera doesn't pick up the pale green card stock too well.
So that is my show and tell for today! Off to play with more goodies that I got at the show... Happy Stamping!
