Altered Wooden Frame
Hello Friends! This frame was a plain unfinished wood frame from Michaels that I think was just a couple bucks, maybe even a dollar. I had the best time creating this frame for Heartfelt Creations!! And I liked how it turned out so much that I made one for myself too!! Be sure to visit the Heartfelt Blog to see all the other creations by the Design Team this week. You will get lots of ideas and inspiration for sure!

Other: Unfinished wooden 7.5 x7.5 picture frame, acrylic primer paint, TENseconds Studio VerDay Copper paint and VerDay patina spray, black acrylic paint, Staz-on Jet Black ink, Memento inks (cottage ivy, tuxedo black), Ideaology Salvage Stickers, Ideaology Journal Ticket, Distress inks (scattered straw, frayed burlap, tumbled glass, vintage photo, worn lipstick), Spica Clear Glitter pen, manila file folder cardstock, Versamark ink, Stampendous Aged Copper Enamel, yellow Bazzill cardstock, Sugared brad, BoBunny Timepiece Metal and Enamel Brads, Paragona 100% Copper Wire Mesh, Stampendous Shabby Pink Enamel, mauve cardstock, ribbon, lace, scrap stick pin, cream cardstock.
7.5 x 7.5 wood picture frame. Prime the front and sides of the unfinished frame with a similar color of acrylic paint to the copper VerDay. Let dry completely. Paint the front and sides of the frame with TENseconds Studio Copper VerDay Paint. Let dry completely. Apply second coat of copper paint randomly with sponge and spray with VerDay to achieve the patina. Let dry overnight. (Minimum 6 hours.) Paint the back of frame with black acrylic paint and let dry. Stamp the Vintage Word Background with Staz-on Jet Black onto the frame where desired. Heat set. Stamp the Bella Rose Leaves using Memento Cottage Ivy ink onto the frame fanning out from lower left corner. Stamp the swirl part randomly along the sides of the frame. Heat set the ink. Make a small tag from cardstock and cover with a couple of Salvage Stickers, trimming to fit. Stamp the Bold Wildflowers randomly on the Journal Ticket using Frayed Burlap and Scattered Straw Distress inks. Stamp just the Dragonfly of the Bug Border stamp by masking the stamp with tape, then inking just the dragonfly with Tumbled Glass ink. Remove tape and stamp over the flowers on the Journal Ticket. Apply clear glitter to the wings. Die cut the Belle Rose Leaves with Swirl from manila file folder cardstock. Cover the die cut with Versamark ink and emboss with Aged Copper Enamel. Stamp Daisy Patch flowers onto yellow cardstock using the 4 smallest flowers and Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Die cut with the Daisy Patch Die. Shape and assemble flowers securing the little flower with a sugared brad and the larger flower with a metal brad from the BoBunny Timepiece collection. Stamp the Butterfly #3 twice using Versamark ink onto copper wire mesh and emboss with Shabby Pink Enamel. Caution… the copper gets very hot! Cut out the butterflies. Die cut 2 butterflies from mauve cardstock using the Fanciful Flights butterfly die and glue the copper mesh butterflies with Glossy Accents at the body. Shape wings.
Cut a piece of cream cardstock to fit the opening of your frame. You can add a photo or a verse if you choose. Ink edges of cs with vintage photo ink and stamp verse with black ink. Randomly stamp portions of the Stained Glass Background around the verse using worn lipstick that has been off-stamped once on scrap paper. By this method, you will have a paler image. Assemble and embellish frame as desired - adding enameled brad, ribbons, lace and a stick pin.
Here is the frame I made for myself and added a picture of my DH and I to show how it looks with a picture verses a stamped verse.
The TENseconds Studios VerDay Paints are totally awesome!! You can use it on ANY material to make it look like patina-aged metal. Very easy to use and the results are absolutely amazing!! Have a great day and I hope you find time to play with your stamps and inks!
